Mood radio

God knows how long I’ve had the same tracks on my play list. And if you’re as lazy as yours truly, you’d probably have problems figuring out what songs to fit in the play list for a road trip.

It’s a good thing i found this awesome site Stereomood today. It’s a free emotional internet radio that suggests to you the music that best suits your mood and your daily activities. There’s practically thousands of songs for every mood imaginable. Hell there’s even one for foreplay..

Movie of the day

The new documentary from BBC, Human Planet is out this year & is a definite must see for anyone who ain’t blind.  I was lucky enough to check out the first episode (Oceans – Into the blue) of the eight part documentary last night & it done blew my mind.

Basically the whole series is about the amazing shit that humans do to adapt to everyday life within their environment on earth. It took them crazy folks from BBC three years to shoot over 70 stories & in some of the most remote locations on earth spanning bout 40 countries.

The first episode starts off with Goose Barnacle collection in northern Spain, where two crazy ass locals fight off raging waves at the bottom of cliffs to get their prize. You can’t help but to picture one of em getting smashed up among the rocks & pulled out into the ocean.

Next was sperm whale hunting in the Indonesian archipelago, I wasn’t too fond at the idea of killing whales. But given how it’s one whole village’s food supply for the coming months, it’s not negotiable. The technique in capturing the whale is amazing. I still can’t get over that & also how one of the hunters name is Benjamin, he just don’t look it.

Then you have dolphin assisted fishing in Brazil. Man’s underwater best friend at work. Priceless technique.

The origin of surfing in Hawaii, where I’m seriously considering just to cut up a plank and try surf it instead of getting a new board online.

Shark calling in Papua New Guinea was some trippy ass shit. This old dude just sits out in the middle of the ocean on a tiny ass canoe & tries hunting for sharks. Another priceless technique. I wonder if we could try that out here with crocs.

I was watching this episode with Julie(Whom I’m currently seeing) & she was explaining something to me bout fishing in Philippines when the next bit came on. Compressor diving in the Philippines. This is about the sickest & deadliest form of fishing I’ve ever seen. These Pa-aling fishermen are diving 40 metres down, breathing air through a tangled web of pipes attached to a diesel engine compressor & can spend up to 4 hrs or so down there. Also at the risk of getting trapped in the net losing air & dying from lethal bends after using the rusty compressor.

The last part was my favorite. Nationless Bajau people in the coral sea near Borneo. These folks have an awesome way of life & can live up to months without having to see land. What’s really amazing is their hunting method. Check out the old dude with the home made goggles above hunting. Bear Grylls ain’t got shit on this.

Watching this episode makes me realize how easy I have it in life. What a guilt trip documentary. Next up Deserts – Life in the Furnace.

Wet Wednesdays

I think I’m spreading myself too thin these past few days. Between work, tuition, gym, skating, poon & the occasional night cap, I ain’t got juice left for nothing else. My “alone time” has turned into bedtime & probably 2hrs reserved prior for this lady I’m seeing.

Take for example today, slow 9-5 at the office, 2hr gym straight after, quick dinner which came right back out cause of some oily vege (so much for vomit free since 2010) then two long ass hrs at tuition. Barely stayed awake the whole time teaching.

The 10min break in between didn’t help. Had to save two of my students stranded a few blocks away cause of a storm. Despite using an umbrella I was soaked up to my waist. Lucky for me, I was in board shorts. Unlucky for the kids, they had to share one shit ass umbrella.

I got a few mins free before picking up the lady & drowning in them beers I got in the cooler back home. That’s right I don’t got time get pissed at the border no more & my passports down to two stamps left.

Speaking of storms, shit’s getting real bad in Japan. Hope those guys manage to keep it together. Any chance these random disaster’s be happening cause of the Super Moon coming this weekend on the 19th?  I mean in the past, shit’s gone down linked to it’s arrival, the Indonesian earthquake/Tsunami 2005,  Hurricane Katrina  2005 & Australian flood 1954 to name a few.

Another thing that was recently brought to my attention was how a number of major disasters & events fall on the same day of the month.. the 11th. Remember..

  • 3/11/11 Japan earth quake tsunami
  • 9/11/2001 WTC
  • 1/11/2010 Haiti earth quake/tsunami
  • 3/11/04 Madrid bombings
  • 12/11/41 US declared war on Germany WWII
  • 3/11/18 Influenza Virus first major outbreak
  • 6/11/2009 Swine Virus declared pandemic
  • 8/11/1965 Watts Riot

At times like these life does feel a little more valuable does it not?

Countdown to Apocalypse

I believe it’s time the media stopped focusing on Charlie Sheen (Although I have mad respect for the Man) & started worrying about the inevitable, Countdown to apocalypse!

If Nostradamus’s predictions are on track, shit’s bout to go down real soon. All these crazy natural disaster’s are taking it’s toll on mother earth & I’m not sure how much more she can take before she gives.

The latest disaster was just yesterday where a 8.9m earthquake hit Sendai, Japan which triggered some massive 30ft tsunami. That’s bigger than the recent 6.3m quake off Honshu island & 7.3m quake off the north eastern coast just this year. Currently one major concern is the Nuclear Power Plant area that’s in evacuation process.

This brings back some flashbacks of world disaster movies for me, big time. I gathered a list of current disasters & with the rate of shit going down from just last year, our fate be looking grim.

The scariest shit for me is knowing when disaster’s are bout to go down. A questionable upcoming disaster could be on the 19th of this month. Where the SuperMoon gets real intimate with mother earth. I’m dreading the results if any.

We all gotta go someday. But via natural mother nature’s cruel transport is just foul.

When work feels overwhelming..

Sometimes having nothing to do all day at work can be quite stressful, you’d think otherwise. I’m not one to sit around my ass all day and do nothing. That’s probably why I’ve never enjoyed hanging out at cafes’ or restaurants for longer than required, regardless of the company present.

This brings back some not so enjoyable memories. Back in the day when I’d be hanging out at coffee houses with my cousins, a cup of coffee would be the reason for 4 to 5 hours of pointless ramblings & even a few minutes of silence every now & then. There’s nothing more painful than watching life slip by at that pace.

The great escape

At times like these all I can think of is hitting the beach. Either that or a nice long soothing massage with happy ending. Speaking of massages, I’ve frequent quite a number of massage parlors over the past few weeks & my wallet’s taking a real hit.

Although Thai masseuse are the bomb, cause they always know how to work the joints, lately I’ve come to realize the skilled ladies from China & Indonesian are just as appealing. I’d pick an hour of proper massage over a one night stand any weekday. :P

Comedy nights

There’s a few sitcoms that I’ve been following for a while now. The usual suspects include;

There’s not much to do where I’m at so I make do with whats accessible to kill time. Besides it does keep me entertained & out of trouble.

CNY 2011

It’s that time of the year again. Chinese New Year 2011. Time really does fly regardless what you be at. I’m still trying recovering from the effects of CNY last year.

Celebrations are less hectic this year so I’m enjoying it a lot more than the previous years. Apart from the usual booze & gambling, the venue this year was in Miri which was much closer for me to get to & I got to spend the whole week with my bro and nephew whom I’ve been dying to catch up with.

12am Fireworks

12am Fireworks

Don’t matter where ya at. When the clock hits 12 am the sky fills up with fireworks till 1 am. I’m guessing it’s the same practice everywhere else probably except for Brunei.

After a two nights in Miri & a lot of whiskey later, I find myself  rushing back to Brunei for open houses. Made a lot of pit stops otw back thanks to my nephew. Getting him to leave either a bookstore or a pet shop is like getting Charlie Sheen to leave the playboy mansion.

The long road home.

The lil fat ass

For the long weekend I’d to show my bro & nephew around since they haven’t been back to Brunei in years. Between malls & beaches there wasn’t much else those two were interested in.

Catch of the day

These lil shits leave some badass red spots

Quality time spent with the whole family for sure this festive season. I can’t even remember the last time I had a meal at the dining table with the whole family. Usually it’s all grab what I want & finish it off by the Tv.

Usual meal in front of the tube.

We’re coming into the 1st half of CNY and so far all is well despite the hangovers. I think its about time to put down the drink & get some exercise. For all the Chinese folks out there celebrating the year of the Rabbit…

HAPPY CNY 2011 BITCHES!

Spartacus – Gods of the Arena

Spartacus is back! It has been a while since “Spartacus – Blood & Sand” Tv series ended and I’ve been anticipating the second season like some junkie awaiting his fix.

Fortunately for me i managed to catch the premier of the prequel to “Blood & Sand”, “Gods of the Arena” last night. Like how every new episode was better than the last back in “Blood & Sand”, this episode just blew my mind.

I doubt they’d have a shot at season two with a replacement for “Andy Whitfield”. But a prequel.. now that’s  a good save. Now all we can do is sit an wait anxiously for the next fix.

The Ricky Gervais Show

I’ve been following “The Ricky Gervais Show” and I gotta admit it’s the funniest sitcom since “Modern Family“.  Initially an audio comedy show in the UK which later adapted to an animated televised version on HBO. It’s brought to you by the same comedians from “The Office” & “Extras”.

The show is about random pointless conversations among the cast members, “Karl Pilkington, Ricky Gervais & Stephen Merchant”. Between Karl”s eccentric point of view on the topics & both Ricky & Stephen’s reactions to the outrages comments, this show just me cracks me up.

Don’t just take my word for it, check out a short clip from the show above & see what you think.

ShitMaMomsSay

Got a new twitter account up and running. Thought it’d be nice for others out there to share my burden of my moms constant nagging. Y’all can enjoy it all here at “ShitMyMomsSay“.

It’s another new year eh? Besides the transition from skateboarding to body-boarding nothing much else has changed since the last year. Work is shit, booze is still good & P.I.P(Pussy is still Pussy).

Seeing as how the world’s conditions are really fucked up now, I wouldn’t be surprised that the Nostradamus effect would come into play soon enough. So this year I’m dedicated to achieving my new year’s resolution before the clock stops. Being single is top of the list. Dating is allowed whereas commitments are not.

We’re about three quarters into the first month and things have been going quite well for me so far. Lets see if i can keep this up.
